HOW POSSIBLE IS PAGE RANK MAGIC?

As a search engine optimization (SEO) fanatic who read practically every single SEO guides that come my way I have been asking myself before now; how possible is page rank magic? Is it really possible to beat search engines algorithms and top the search results overnight?
I know many people are also asking this same question because the ranking hype is all over the internet.

There’s no better way for me to answer this question than to look into the SEO techniques that enable search engines to index and rank pages and also examine the possible way that SEO gurus can exploit search engines algorithms.

The two broad categories of SEO techniques that will ultimately lead to indexing and ranking of page are:

1.       White Hat SEO and
2.       Black Hat SEO.

White Hat SEO: This is the ethical and accepted SEO practice that does not involve any deceptive strategies. In this case the technique conform to search engines guidelines and present the same information that is indexed and ranked to users. As we know, the aim of search engine is to display relevant information to users.
Going by White Hat SEO technique a website must have put everything in order for it to be indexed and ranked by search engines. Though, it is believed that every web pages on the internet are indexed and ranked accordingly except for some pages that instruct search engines bot not to index. According to experts, building backlinks, submitting sitemap, installing optimized template, using appropriate HTML tags, and publishing unique and informative contents will enhance the ranking of websites. But another question to ask is “how long will it take search engine to rank a page”? I have never been informed that search engine bots are on “summer vacation” or “winter vacation”, so they work tirelessly to rank every web pages as fast as possible.

Black Hat SEO: This type of SEO involves the use of deceptive tactic to improve ranking that could/might have been disapproved by search engines. Like I said in one of my article Black Hat SEO does not really provide contents for human users but search engines. As seen almost everywhere on the internet, black hat SEO combines different skills with tools to perform magic ranking that could later damage the reputation of the website.

The tactics used in Black Hat SEO includes but not limited to practices that:
1.       Redirect users to pages that is totally different from the ranked page
2.       Serve one version of page to search engine’s bots and another version to human users (known as cloaking)
3.       Uses invisible html codes to command bots
4.       Stuffing of contents with keywords
5.       Page hijacking etc.

Looking into black hat techniques it is very possible to get pages ranked high by search engines without going by the acceptable (white hat SEO) practice. Doing this seems to be the solution to ranking problems, but in reality it’s a bad practice that will negatively affect the page or the website thereafter due to the regular update of search engines algorithm.
